Website Design Checklist

We're nearly ready to go!

Before we get started, here are some things you might need to provide to me so the design process runs smoothly.

Web Hosting

Your web host’s name and your login details. This is the login information for your control panel where your files are uploaded and stored, not your web host account login where you pay your web host and manage your details.

If you’re unsure, you can provide the name of your web host and I will guide you.

Provide any licensing that is relevant to the website, like your Google Analytics tracking code if you have one. If you don’t have any licenses or API keys to be considered, they will be provided to get your site up and running.

If you’re not sure what any of this is, don’t panic – it will all be explained to you!

High Quality Images

It is best to provide any photographs in a high resolution (300dpi at full size). It’s much better to start with larger files and optimise them to have more control over resizing and the quality of the final images.

Any logo images are best provided in vector format (.eps or .ai preferred) so the logo can be resized without any loss of quality. A jpeg file might now show the logo at its clearest.

Content In Its Final Form

All text, images, audio, video and other files should be provided in their final form before work begins. This means content should be ready for publishing with no revisions needed. This allows me to plan fully for the website design and architecture.

Any changes made to the site after the design has been created can cause delays, and potentially extend the project beyond the initial budget.

Any copyrighted content needs to be provided with attributions and/or relevant legal information that needs to go with it.

Provide any samples of previous design work that needs to be considered, including any style guides. Be sure to identify any DOs and DON’Ts, such as colour, fonts and placement.

You can also provide examples of up to 3 other websites you like the look and feel of if you think it will help achieve the design you are after.

Anything Else?

If there’s anything else you think I should know, now is the time to share it!

All set?

Upload your files via the link you were provided.

You can send information, links and smaller attachments via email if you prefer.
